May 2025 Writing Goals

This is it! This is the month where I put my head down and get these typing fingers stretched, nimble, and ready to attack these keys with vigor. I'm beyond excited to get back to writing. I was supposed to pre-plan my writing schedule last month, but April turned out to be a little more hectic than I anticipated. That's ok. I'm not going to get hung up on that. I'm fully capable of existing and working in chaos.

The writing goal this month is to:

  • Write (at least) two new chapters to incorporate the new direction my characters wanted me to take this story in.

  • Sort out an incomplete scene that I forgot about during the rough draft because it needed some research. (I forgot to research.)

  • Read through draft 1 and make necessary changes.

It's not going to be perfect when it's finished but I want to send it to my beta readers to get their opinions on the story as a whole. I'm hopeful that they will love it. It's hard to see the "bigger picture" when I know what's happening. I love it and think it's good stuff but I need to make sure other people feel the same and it needs to make sense.

I anticipated that was hoping to get draft 2 completed by the end of the month but as you can tell by the date, I'm getting a late start. I also don't know how much of the story will need to be changed to implement the new ideas. If I can stop getting distracted by everything and focus on writing, I'm confident it's still possible to reach the original deadline.

Wish me luck!!
